How to get commit access

Print

The TikiWiki community is a heavy user (external link) of CVS (external link) and SVN (external link). While many open source communities have a send-a-patch-and-someone-else-will-commit approach, in TikiWiki, we encourage everyone to commit directly to the source code. Think of it as applying the Wiki Way to software development (external link). Over 170 people have done it so far and it works very well.

  1. Read and agree to the 3Rules
  2. Read Hello World
  3. Get an account on SourceForge (external link)
  4. Where to commit
  5. Get an account on tikiwiki.org (external link)
  6. Join the CVS/SVN commit and developers mailing lists because "Given enough eyeballs, all bugs are shallow (external link)"
  7. Come on the IRC channel, and ask one of the admins (see :WhoWhat for list) about the ceremony for joining the community and getting CVS/SVN commit access. Please do put this channel in your favorites and hang out with us.
  8. Download via CVS/SVN so you can easily keep up to date and share back fixes and enhancements.
  9. Read TikiDevNewbie
  10. How about organizing a TikiFest?

If you don't know how to use CVS/SVN or it's not convenient to set it up or learn at the moment, you are most welcome to submit a patch.

keywords

The following is a list of tikiwiki keywords that should serve as hubs for navigation within the tiki development and should correspond to documentation keywords

Each feature in Tiki has a wiki page which regroups all the bugs, requests for enhancements, etc. It is somewhat a form of wiki-based project management. You can also express your interest in a feature by adding it to your profile. You can also try out the Dynamic filter.
