This is also an opportunity to
DogFood our tracker feature. We have phased out the use of
Sourceforge trackers.
Hey, wait a minute! what is your problem with Sourceforge? We are very grateful towards Sourceforge. They tremendously help the open source community and have helped Tiki a lot. Maybe Tiki would not be where it is today without the visibility & tools provided by Sourceforge. Sourceforge has awarded Tiki
project of the month
. We will continue to use Sourceforge's
mailing lists
&
CVS
services and Tiki is one of the largest communities on Sourceforge. Sourceforge is a great overall tool to manage an open source project.
This being said, Tiki strives to become a powerful Open Source Wiki / Content Management System / Groupware / etc. Most community members are using Tiki for purposes other than open source software development. We therefore want to have a powerful tracker system for whatever you need (tasks bugs, inventory, whatever!). Experience has shown us that the best way to develop robust software is when the developers eat their own
DogFood.
There are also some features which we have developed which provide
advantages over Sourceforge tracker. For example:
- Possible to assign a tracker to one or many categories. (ex.: a bug affects the css in forums, do we put in forums or in css category?). Also, it is possible to use the same category system as for the other features (wiki pages, articles, forums, etc) of your site.
- Then, tracker items are available in all appropriate Keywords pages
- We are testing the new tracker rating system so users can easily give feedback on how important they think a specific todo item is. This feedback will help the community have better information about itself.
- Takes advantage of Tiki's transversal features (search, etc)
- It's Free Software! Join the community and enhance the Tiki trackers with what YOU need! ()
